An EPDM rubber D-seal with flap provides superior protection against wind, noise and moisture, as the added flap helps ensure a seal. The D-shaped foam rubber seal with flap is 0.695" wide and 0.500" tall, offering a wide base with a flap extending upward to provide an additional seal. The D-profile rubber seal with flap can be compressed between 0.375" and 0.25" without worry about the compression setting. Ideal for the automotive industry, HVAC seals, windows and doors, enclosures and weather stripping, the 5036 series EPDM rubber D-shaped seal protects against sunlight, noise, ozone and low temperatures.
D-section rubber seal with flap provides a wide base with two adhesive options available: a heat-activated tape system (HATS) and a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The D-type rubber seal with flap that utilizes the HATS adhesive can withstand greater shear forces than the PSA adhesive. Additionally, the HATS adhesive requires approximately 72 hours to cure before it will function at capacity. The PSA adhesive provides rapid bonding and is ideally used for static applications.
EPDM, Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer, is well known for its excellent ozone, weathering, and aging resistance. It also has excellent water and steam resistance, maintains its flexibility at low temperatures, features excellent resistance to alkalis, acids, and oxygenated solvents, and is very color stable. It is not recommended for resistance to oil, gasoline, and hydrocarbon solvents. EPDM is found in a wide range of applications and is excellent for use outdoors.
