Silicone Sealants & Adhesives
Exonic Polymers extensive line of sealants and adhesive products provide many different characteristics designed for specific applications. These product characteristics including many of the following: extreme temperature resistance, accelerated / fast cure, flexible properties, optically clear, adhesion to difficult substrates and many more. With such a wide variety of applications and unique characteristics our silicone sealants and adhesives rely on three main curing process: room temperature vulcanization (RTV), heat curing, and UV curing.
Room Temperature Vulcanization (RTV) Silicone Sealants & Adhesives
Room Temperature vulcanization (RTV) silicone's are compounds that cure at room temperature. RTV silicone's are classified as condensation-curing materials. This means that as soon as the material meets the moisture in the air the curing, or chemical process of cross-linking, immediately begins. Manufactured in both 1 and 2 part systems.
Heat Vulcanized/Cured Silicone Sealants & Adhesives
Heat cured silicone's are compounds that cure with the addition of heat. This form of curing is ideal when you need greater control and processing flexibility. Manufactured in both 1 and 2 part formulations enable adhesion in as little as 20-30 minutes at temperatures of 150°C. Select, high-performance products can cure within minutes at 150°C.
UV Vulcanized/Cured Silicone Sealants & Adhesives
UV cured silicone's are compounds that cure with the addition of UV light that initiates the curing process. This means that the the silicone sealant or adhesive must be must be exposed to some form of UV light. Once exposed to the Uv light some silicone products can take set within seconds. Typically a longer period of 24-72 hours is required for a complete cure of the product. This process allows for a low temperature curing process that drastically reduces reduced energy consumption in the production process and allows for high volume manufacturing to drastically improve production time.
Silicone Encapsulating & Potting
Encapsulation is the process of creating a protective shell around an application. Commonly used in electronics to protect them from the common elements that can cause damage. Encapsulation provides resistance to shock and vibration, as well as creating a seal against moisture, solvents, corrosive agents, electrical insulation, flame retardant and heat dissipation.
Potting is a process similar to encapsulation. The goal remains the same in creating a protecting for the application with a silicone product. The only difference is that instead of creating a protective shell, potting is traditionally poured into an enclosure for the purpose of providing resistance to shock and vibration, as well as creating a seal against moisture, solvents, corrosive agents, electrical insulation, flame retardant and heat dissipation.
Electrically & Thermally Conductive Silicone
Electrically conductive silicone's are compounds developed to act as a conductor of electricity. Generally offering a volume resistivity range of .003 - 10 (Ohms cm). Electrically conductive materials are generally used in situations where EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) is present. It can also be used to help prevent the buildup of static charge in applications.
Thermally Conductive silicone's are compounds developed with the ability to transmit heat, generally offer a thermal conductivity of .3 to 4.3 W/m-K. Thermally conductive silicone's can be found in smart phones, Led lights, computer devices and large stadium screens.
Silicone coatings are used to preserve and protect a wide range of applications and has the ability to adhere to many materials including masonry, ceramics, metals, plastics, and wood. Coatings can be applied in many forms such such as dipping, spray, or rubbing. Silicone coatings can be found in many industries including: marine haul coatings, deck and cement coatings, high temperature coatings, electronic coatings, vehicle coatings and many more.
