Silicones as a conformal coating for electronics

Conformal coatings can play several roles in the electronics industry. A conformal coating may be used to isolate and insulate the components on a printed circuit board. It may also be used for protecting components from physical and environmental damage. Conformal coatings can prevent components from being damaged due to exposure to moisture, corrosive elements, extreme temperatures, or mechanical stresses.

Conformal coatings are usually applied as a thin, uniformly spread layer at the end of a circuit board manufacturing or assembly.
